What InvestFest Taught Me About Building a Life You Actually Want

Hey yall, hey!!!!! I spent two days at InvestFest soaking up sessions on investing, influence, faith, and AI, and honestly, the through line surprised me. It wasn’t about money. It was about systems, patience, and knowing what’s actually yours to build.

Here’s what stuck with me, and what it means for how I’m approaching J Lorrain Studio and my other businesses going forward.

1. Focus on your gift before you branch out

One of the most repeated ideas across the weekend was this, don’t diversify before you’ve mastered the one thing. As one speaker put it, your gift will make room for you, but only once it’s honed. No roots, no water, no fertilizer yet.

That hit close to home. It’s tempting to chase every platform, every content format, every trend at once. But the creators who actually broke through, the ones on the influence panel, all said some version of the same thing, pick your lane, get good, then expand.

2. Authenticity really is the whole strategy

Every panelist on the influence session started with zero followers and real anxiety about being seen. No fancy cameras. No elaborate editing. Just a phone, a tripod, and consistency. They called themselves “iPhone millionaires,” and the phrase stuck with me.

The reminder here, for J Lorrain Studio and honestly for any creative brand, is that polish isn’t the barrier. Showing up consistently, in your own voice, is.

3. Serve the people who are already here

“Serve the 100 people who genuinely follow you as if they were 100,000.” That single line reframed how I think about a smaller, engaged audience. Influence isn’t disqualified by a small following, it’s about quality of connection, not size of it.

4. AI moves fast, but your voice is still the edge

The AI session made one thing clear, the gap between having an idea and having a working prototype has basically disappeared. Tools can help you build almost anything quickly. But the speakers (For example Alecia Lyttle) were unanimous on one point, season your AI outputs with your own voice, don’t copy-paste. That’s the difference between using a tool and losing yourself in one.

5. Slow, structured growth compounds

Between the investing sessions and the wealth-building talks, one idea kept resurfacing, small, consistent action beats big, sporadic moves. Whether it’s $20 a month into an index fund or one piece of content a day, the compounding comes from showing up, not from swinging big once.

That’s the short version. If you were at InvestFest too, I’d love to hear what stood out to you, drop it in the comments or shoot me a message.

Until next time, Bye!
